“Tell me about yourself.”

Hello! My name is Jiayi (she/her), and I’m majoring in Design and Environmental Analysis at the College of Human Ecology. I’m also pursuing a minor in Healthy Futures, where I explore how design can integrate health and hospitality into everyday life. As an international student from China, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the supportive and loving community at Cornell, particularly within Human Ecology. I’m eager to contribute my unique perspective and efforts to this vibrant community through the CEC.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I found my passion for design research at Cornell Human Ecology. After graduation, I hope to pursue a PhD in design or education, focusing on applying the frameworks and tools of design and system thinking to environmental education. Ultimately, I have a (very ambitious) goal of teaching design and research methods at a university.

What are you involved in on campus?

Outside of the CEC, I’m actively involved in Cornell University Sustainable Design (Sustainable City Subteam) and Cornell Amber Dance Troupe, and I conduct research as a PRYDE Scholar and an RCPRS Scholar.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love grabbing food with friends and exploring new exhibitions or presentations around campus :))
