4 Steps to a Better Linkedin Profile

4 Steps to a Better LinkedIn Profile

In this technology-driven age, young professionals are expected to have a Linkedin page, and to keep it updated and fresh. Follow these 4 simple steps to improve your online presence and professional branding!

  1. Develop your personal brand
A profile picture matches a face to the name – and gives you 13x the chance of getting noticed! Use your cover photo to display what you are interested in, and polish your title and captions to give a quick snapshot of what you’re doing now and did in the past.
  2. Describe your experiences
Your summary and experiences give a clearer picture of your interests and capabilities. Uploading work samples elaborates on your experiences with visuals. Including volunteer experience and causes you care about can speak lengths about your character. Be specific and keep your information current!
  3. Boost your skills!
Include your skills, ranging from computer software to presentation and language skills. Be honest about your skills! But don’t be too modest either – if you are confident in your public speaking abilities, definitely include it! Endorsing other people’s skills can lead to other people endorsing your own skills!
  4. Make connections
Add the people you know – peers, professors, family – and continue to expand your connections as you network and meet new people! Join groups and follow companies that interest you. This will keep you up-to-date about news or openings for their company, and will show that you are truly interested in them!
